100 m altitude
A preserved Newari hill town with panoramic Himalayan views, tranquil mountain lodges, and a convenient day-trip distance from Kathmandu.

Dhulikhel is a compact Newari hill town at 1,550 metres, 30 km east of Kathmandu on the Arniko Highway. Less visited than Nagarkot but offering equally good Himalayan panoramas — on clear days you can see peaks from Ganesh Himal to Numbur. The old town has well-preserved Newari houses, stone-paved lanes, and small temples. Dhulikhel is popular with cyclists coming from Kathmandu along the valley road, and with those who want a quiet hilltop base without the tourist infrastructure of Nagarkot. The sunrise point above town requires a 20-minute walk from the main square.
