Chitwan
Home to one-horned rhinoceroses, Bengal tigers, and wild elephants in a UNESCO-listed national park — the top wildlife destination in Nepal.
100 m altitude
A hilltop escape east of Kathmandu offering the widest panorama of the Himalayan range from Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east.

Nagarkot sits at 2,175 metres on the eastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, 28 km from the city. It is famous for spectacular sunrise views over eight of the world's fourteen 8,000-metre peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu. On clear days the panorama spans over 200 km of the Himalayan arc. Nagarkot makes an excellent overnight trip from Kathmandu — many visitors arrive by late afternoon, watch the sunset, stay at one of the hilltop resorts, and then catch the sunrise the next morning before hiking or taking the bus back. The downhill walk through Changu Narayan to Bhaktapur (3–4 hours) is a popular trekking day out.
