Nagarkot
A hilltop escape east of Kathmandu offering the widest panorama of the Himalayan range from Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east.
2,175 m altitude
The premier sunrise viewpoint above Pokhara, famous for Annapurna panoramas and as the launch point for Nepal's most popular paragliding flights.

Sarangkot rises to 1,600 metres on a ridge north of Pokhara Lake, offering the best foreground view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. Most visitors make the pre-dawn drive or hike (1.5 hours from Pokhara lakeside) to catch the sunrise behind Machapuchare and Annapurna South. The viewpoint tower gives an unobstructed 180-degree sweep of the range. Sarangkot is also the official launch point for tandem paragliding over Pokhara's lakes — typically a 20–30 minute flight landing on the Lakeside promenade. The hike from Sarangkot to Naudanda, continuing on the Australian Camp trail, is a rewarding half-day walk through Gurung villages.
